Dinner

Today was going to be a well thought out dinner. I had ordered martha stewarts 'everyday food: good food fast'. I flipped through its pages and settled on, 'cashew chicken'.
I get out of work. I pick up the essentials, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, green onions, and bc I thought the recipe called for too few veggies- a frozen bag of sugar snap pea stir fry veggies. I also picked up a little over a pound and a half of chicken breasts. I wandered. I shopped. I felt like I was forgetting something. Did I? What did I forget. I wandered around for another 5 minutes- nothing. I check out. I go home. I'm excited to tell the boys that we are having cashew chicken for dinner- and then it hit me. Cashew chicken requires cashews. D'oh!!!
So, I tell them our cashew chicken will be without cashews. Next time. Gadget. Next time. I decide that bc we are missing crunch to add fresh asparagus and zucchini. I follow the recipe- other than the added veggies. And voila- in 45 minutes dinner is ready.
Hers looks like this:
Recipe can be found here:

And mine came out like this:
Not plated quite as nicely- but omgosh- delish!!!
My mini me ate his all gone and this is with having a double ear infection, bronchitis, and a temp of 103. He's been picking at food like a bird- but not his non cashew cashew chicken.
I'd like to thank one of my besties, Cheryl, for recommending the book. I see plenty of great meals hitting our table in the near future.
And here is a selfie of me and my new glasses PLUS the, 'put me in the zoo' plushie that Boston demanded I take to the eye dr.
This just in!! Hot of the press!!
Looks like chocolate chip cookies are up for tomorrow. :)

Have good days. -j

Sick Day

I've been home w my little monkey all day. The dr. thinks he may have bronchitis. He sounds terrible. So, today we worked on sleeping and make up work for class.
That is the face of misery. Looks like someone messed with his Cheerios. ;)
I've been working on a knitting project all day. Drinking coffee and smelling our dinner which is cooking away in our crockpot.
We are waiting for Stephen to get home from his class in PA. I'm not sure mini me and I will be able to wait. We are, 'starving'. Kiddo is upset bc nothing has any flavor. He couldn't taste strawberries earlier. He said that they were, 'wasted' on him. Poor kiddo. I know telling him that I understand means nothing. I told him that I had bronchitis when I was pregnant with him and I couldn't talk for 2 weeks. I don't think he believes me- but at the time my landlord thought I was dead. Pleasant thought.
So, we are dealing. Watching some cartoons and drinking lots of water.
He seems better today than yesterday. I think he will be going to school tomorrow. He mentioned being bored.
C'est la vie.

The Dentist

Normal people dislike going to the dentist. I, for one, am not your normal people. I love going to the dentist. Today I woke up with discomfort and a swollen jaw. Nothing terrible- just slightly puffy and uncomfortable. I called my dentist and he squeezed me in between other patients.
I get looked at by the hygienist. Nothing. We take x-rays- nothing. The dentist comes in- nothing. They whack my tooth in question a few times w the backside of their mirror, 'does that hurt?' 'No.'  They poke at me with pretty much every object they had that they could poke at me with. Nothing. I've perplexed them. I left after an hour and 10 minutes with a shrug, an rx for penicillin, and a, 'take this, if it doesn't bother you anymore after the meds- then it won't bother us!' Hahaha my dentist has a good sense of humor. I just am not a fan of unnecessary antibiotics. However, the pain I feel- I am taking them.
At least he reminded me that I have a good set of chompers. I felt 12 all over again. Funny how things take you back.

Personal and Confidential

I have another blog, PopPopPhotography.  If you go there to check up on it, you will see I haven't posted since December 2012.
I've decided to keep that blog up and running, because I have been doing lots of photography side projects and work that I need to showcase.
Granted, I am one in the same- I just never felt very comfortable being personal on that site.  I felt that it always needed/s to revolve around photography.

I am in no way saying that this blog won't include photography.  How could it not? It is what I do.  I just don't feel like this is a breathing portfolio of my work.  It is more just a living text of who I am.
I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother.  I also love, Instagranny. See below.
This was when I was working for a car dealership taking photos of new cars.  I always felt like someone was watching me.
Apparently, they were.
So, in no way is this meant to be fantastic or grand.  I just need a space to place my thoughts.

10 things about me.

1. I manage a bakery.
2. I manage a 6 year old boy.
3. I manage.
4. I've been with my husband going on 10 years- I manage to stay sane.
5. I am afraid of bees.
6. I photograph pretty much everything. Don't worry- I don't lug my big girl camera around all the time- but I am always armed with my telephone.
7. I am an introvert- I am trying to be better about that.
8. I like chocolate.  Let me rephrase that, I LIKE chocolate.
9. I am Christian.
10.  I read, a lot.  Lately, I haven't been.  I am working on it.  I just bought the beekeeper's apprentice.  I used to manage a bookstore.  I miss the smell of managing a bookstore.  I miss being able to read whatever I want for free. Oh well, I now try to buy used books. So far- every used book I have gotten from amazon has been brand new.  Can't really complain there- saving $ and re-using something.. double points.

and I suppose I should let you in on a not so big secret- I love soccer.  FIFA - I will be a crazy woman in 99 days.  The last world cup ended with my 2nd favorite team winning- SPAIN.  I was hopeful for Germany, bc they are my all time favorite (waiting for boo's and hisses) but, they came in 3rd.  Better than last.

Anway- Come June 12, if you don't like following the World Cup- you probably won't want to come to this page until after July 13. ;)
